Before and after

I sat on this script for several years, waiting for Chapter 1 to complete. Before I moved back to the United States, I decided that I would draw the conclusion of Chapter 1 myself. My friend, Zairyo has been working on improving his techniques to draw Chapter 1 for years now but, I wanted closure on the issue. I got stalled myself with moving across the ocean from Japan and starting college courses again. But, I made a good attempt at drawing Chapter 2. I even scheduled it on my Google Calendar to update on Wednesdays. When I started Graduate school, I got overwhelmed between work and school to keep up my updates and stopped at page 6. 

To be honest, I deviated from my own script a bit. I like to think that I made a good attempt! But I am quite please with the pages that my friend, Nicoy Guevarra has created from the original script! I am continually please and impressed with Nicoy’s work, She sets a deadline and a schedule and keeps to it. She is easy to work with and I look forward to continuing to work with her. If you noticed, Nicoy is the artist for my other comic, Song of Asteria and she is one of our community artists on Shattered Universe!

Tarot Cards

In most tarot interpretations, the Devil can mean a type of change or a person that influences change but it is not inherently a bad card. The details of the full spread that Moira is dealing herself won’t be revealed until later on. The deck that Moira is using the Rider-Waite designs and symbolism. I own several Tarot decks but I felt that using a fairly recognizable deck would be better for possible interpretation.

Here is the first reboot page of Chapter 2 by Nicoy Guevarra! I was sitting on this script for years and I had attempted to draw it myself but couldn’t manage it with my course work. I absolutely love her art style and am glad to have her on the project. Stay tuned for the next update on Halloween! 

Rebooting

Here is the cover inspired by the 8 of Swords featuring Moira, as drawn by Nicoy Guevarra based from my original cover of Chapter 2! She is also drawing my other comic project: The Song of Asteria which updates weekly in full color (because there is more funding for it). For those just joining, welcome to Salient Caligation! Those returning might recognize these new pages. =) The next update is 18 Oct! Patrons get a 1 week early release of the newest updates. 

Updates

Just a reminder, the comic returns bi-weekly, Oct 3, 2018. As a bonus this time around, I have started a Patreon to help keep the comic updating on time! Donating gets early access to updates and a copy of the compiled PDF at the end of each month. All of the site updates are scheduled for release here and on Patreon until the end of November.

Ugh

So I am experimenting with different webcomic plug-ins to get the best functionality/appearance for the comic. If things aren’t working, it’s because I am experimenting. Stand by. These are old pages. Still tracking for Oct 3 for the relaunch!

Readjusting

I came back to the US from Japan over a year ago and then I got lost in graduate school and work, and found that while I could update the comic with my artwork, I was not consistent with the style and quality. That I was striving for. I set the comic down and refocused. But I got the gumption to finally just pay another artist, to draw the comic for me for future publication. So this means that updates will be fairly slow pending on funding. I will have a Patreon set-up in the near future that will take into account how much all the costs are and what funding goals need to happen to keep this story updating.

I decided against starting Ch 1 over and opted instead, to have my new artist, Nicoy Guevarra, to start Ch 2 over. It was only 6 pages in, so it won’t take too long to redo it all. Just expensive. But this means that you, as an audience, will get professional artwork and pages when the updates occur. To get everything started, I have already paid for a handful of pages. The comic starts rolling bi-weekly beginning October 3. If you want to help me make this work, please consider donating to my Ko-Fi or my Patreon.

Part of this process means that I will be consolidating my comic back onto a singular domain now that I now how to set up a comic press website after years of watching my friend, Mike Prokop do it. He’s been my gracious host for many years since we left Comic Genesis. I’m still collaborating with him on other projects but it is my intention to get everything moved onto this domain before October and get all of my archives up in one way or another. =)
